Rawalpindi: Prominent figures from Pakistan’s business community met with Field Marshal General Asim Munir under the leadership of former caretaker federal minister Gohar Ejaz. During the meeting, a comprehensive briefing was given on the current economic situation of the country and the direction it is expected to take in the future.
According to sources, the meeting was attended by All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Chairman Kamran Arshad, renowned industrialist S.M. Tanveer, and other notable business leaders. The presence of the presidents of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Lahore Chamber of Commerce further underscored the significance of the session.
Speaking on the occasion, Gohar Ejaz emphasized that signs of economic stability are emerging, and the business community fully supports the government’s economic policies. He urged the government to facilitate the business sector to strengthen economic reforms, attract investment, and boost exports.
He also called for a reduction in the current interest rates, taking into account the inflationary pressures, to help promote industrial activity. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of implementing the commitments made in the recent federal budget to address the concerns of the business community.
Gohar Ejaz underlined the need to shift the national economy towards an export-led model to increase foreign exchange reserves and build a sustainable economic foundation. He also highlighted the importance of protecting domestic cotton production and resolving issues faced by farmers.
