Karachi: A harrowing incident unfolded in Shah Latif Town, where a child who had been kidnapped nearly three months ago was unexpectedly found begging outside a mosque. The family immediately recognized the child, and with the help of locals, apprehended the suspected kidnapper and handed him over to the police.
Three-year-old Hussain Ali was abducted in May 2025 from Sector 17-A of Shah Latif Town. His family had promptly lodged a case at the Shah Latif Town Police Station under FIR No. 731/25, registered under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
An unexpected turn in the case occurred after Isha prayers when the child’s uncle went to Farooq-e-Azam Mosque in Sector 16-A. There, he spotted a child begging outside the mosque and immediately identified him as his missing nephew, Hussain Ali.
The man accompanying the child was taken into custody by the public and later handed over to the police. The suspect was identified as Sheharyar, son of Mushtaq Hussain. During the initial interrogation, Sheharyar revealed that the child had been given to him by his father-in-law, Sultan, and that he was using him to beg in the area.
Police transferred the accused to Shah Latif Town Police Station and initiated further investigations. The child was safely returned to his parents. According to sources, the police are now expanding their investigation to uncover other individuals possibly involved in the kidnapping.
Residents and the victim’s family have demanded strict legal action against the culprit. Police officials assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that all individuals involved in the crime will be brought to justice.
