Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Stars has announced the establishment of a dedicated stand for Pakistani fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The special stand has been named after Pakistan’s star fast bowler Haris Rauf, who has been an integral part of the Melbourne Stars since 2019.
According to details, the stand will be known as the “House of Rauf”, and the initiative aims to strengthen the connection between the South Asian community, especially Pakistani supporters, and the game. For this purpose, Haris Rauf has been appointed as the official ambassador of the campaign.
Haris Rauf has been associated with the Melbourne Stars since 2019, and during this period, he has played 22 matches in the BBL, taking an impressive 36 wickets. His consistent performance has made him a key figure in the team’s bowling lineup.
Melbourne Stars General Manager Max Abbott explained that this initiative will not only create a unique atmosphere in the stadium but will also showcase Pakistani culture through food, music, and traditions. He further said that the effort is part of Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan, which seeks to promote inclusivity in the sport by celebrating cultural diversity.
It is worth mentioning that the Big Bash League is scheduled to begin on December 14, with Melbourne Stars starting their campaign against Hobart Hurricanes on December 18.
