The Sindh High Court, while hearing a petition filed against the unauthorized de-sealing of a building sealed by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), has ordered that the property be vacated within 48 hours.
During the hearing, SBCA’s Deputy Director submitted a report stating that the residential building had been sealed in 2023 for being used as a school. The report further revealed that the same building had also been sealed back in 2018 due to commercial activities.
It was highlighted that the SBCA seal had been removed unlawfully by either the owner or the tenant of the building, after which the property was re-sealed on August 13. The report added that field staff had conducted several inspections, but no active commercial activity was observed. However, during each visit, the building’s entrance was found locked from the inside.
The SBCA confirmed that criminal proceedings had already been initiated against the unlawful removal of the seal. The court expressed strong displeasure over the matter, warning that taking the law into one’s own hands would not be tolerated. Consequently, the court ordered that the premises must be vacated within 48 hours.
