After Bollywood announced plans to produce a propaganda film titled Operation Sandur, Pakistan moved ahead by creating the telefilm Begunah, based on the Pahalgam false-flag incident, to present the truth to the public.
In April 2025, a sudden firing erupted in the tourist area of Pahalgam in occupied Kashmir, leaving at least 26 people dead. Among the victims were some foreign tourists, but most of those killed were Indian citizens. India immediately blamed Pakistan for the attack and launched Operation Sandur in response.
Pakistan retaliated with full force, downing six Indian fighter jets during what it called the Battle of Truth. The destroyed aircraft included Rafale, MiG-29, and Sukhoi-30 jets. This response was seen as direct retaliation against India’s air strikes under Operation Sandur.
Facing embarrassment at the global level, India tasked its film industry with producing two propaganda films, Operation Sandur and Mission Pahalgam. However, while these projects remained on paper, Pakistan went a step further by announcing the release of Begunah.
Produced by Green Entertainment, the telefilm Begunah highlights the sacrifices and struggles of the Kashmiri people while also delivering a strong rebuttal to Indian propaganda and false allegations.
According to the producers, Begunah is Pakistan’s response to Indian propaganda, portraying a powerful story of resilience and sacrifice.
The script has been written by Ali Moeen and Irfan Chandio, while Shamoon Abbasi has directed the film and also acted in it. The cast also includes Faraz Farooqui, Nazish Jahangir, Hassan Niazi, and Saleem Sheikh.
The teaser of the telefilm was released at the end of September 2025, and it is expected to air soon on Green Entertainment.
Pakistani media reports state that Begunah aims to bring the public closer to the truth, portraying the Kashmiri struggle and countering Indian propaganda with a strong message.
