Electricity prices are likely to decrease across the country, as the Central Power Purchasing Agency has formally submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to cut tariffs by 37 paisa per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment. If approved, consumers are expected to receive noticeable relief in their upcoming bills.
NEPRA will conduct a hearing on the CPPA’s tariff reduction request on October 29, after which a decision is expected. The move aims to reduce the financial burden on consumers and align power tariffs with the decline in global fuel prices.
According to sources, the government is also preparing a comprehensive long-term relief package for agricultural and industrial consumers to ensure a broader reduction in electricity costs. Under this package, power tariffs are expected to be lowered by up to 14 rupees per unit for the next three years, which is expected to bring a positive impact on the overall economy.
