Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that Pakistan is standing at the brink of a severe economic and political crisis, with the recent resignation of one individual causing two assemblies to dissolve.
During a press conference, Azam Nazir Tarar stated that the Election Commission has decided to hold simultaneous elections under the Constitution, and that political parties will form the government in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the election results. He added that the Election Commission is an independent constitutional body.
The Federal Law Minister further stated that the resignation of one individual led to the dissolution of two assemblies, and the analysis of the assemblies was conducted to avoid a vote of no confidence.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that the Election Commission has decided to hold simultaneous elections under the Constitution, and that Punjab’s population is more than half of the country’s total population. He added that the civil society has launched a campaign for simultaneous elections, and the announcement of elections will be made by the Election Commission if there is no agreement in Punjab.
