Authorities in the United Kingdom have issued snowfall alerts along with amber and yellow warnings as severe cold conditions continue across the country, raising concerns about disruption and public safety.
According to media reports, the Meteorological Department said that a cold wave is affecting the entire UK, prompting the enforcement of an amber cold health alert due to the expected intensity of the weather.
Reports further stated that Scotland faces a high risk of heavy snowfall, with up to 40 centimeters of snow expected in several areas. As a result, transportation is likely to be affected, and delays or cancellations in rail and air services are also anticipated.
The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel because of harsh weather conditions, while police in Scotland have also urged people to postpone their journeys amid deteriorating weather.
In addition, yellow warnings for snow and ice remain in place across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as authorities continue to closely monitor the evolving weather situation.
