Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has written a formal letter to the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, seeking the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the Gul Plaza tragedy. The move comes amid growing concern following the incident and calls for transparency and accountability.
In his letter, the governor stated that the fire incident at Gul Plaza on January 17 resulted in an irreparable loss of precious human lives, describing it as a highly serious and alarming event. He emphasized the need for transparent, independent, and credible investigations to uncover the full facts surrounding the tragedy.
According to Governor Tessori, a judicial inquiry should thoroughly examine the actual causes of the fire, identify any possible regulatory lapses in the building, and assess the state of safety arrangements. He stressed that if negligence or legal violations by any individual or institution are established, those responsible must be clearly identified.
The letter further stated that the establishment of a judicial commission would not only ensure accountability but would also help prevent similar tragic incidents in the future. The governor expressed hope that an inquiry conducted under judicial supervision would restore public confidence and ensure justice in accordance with the law.
Governor Kamran Tessori said that by writing to the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, he has fulfilled his commitment regarding the formation of a judicial commission and reaffirmed that he will continue to stand with the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy until the very end.
