Pakistan has issued a high alert following the spread of the Nipah virus in India, with authorities strengthening preventive measures across the country to avert any potential threat.
According to officials, strict screening has been ordered at all airports, seaports, and land borders across Pakistan, while 100 percent screening of all arriving and transit passengers has been made mandatory to ensure early detection of any suspected cases.
In addition, authorities have directed verification of the complete travel history of passengers for the past 21 days, enabling effective monitoring of individuals arriving from areas affected by the Nipah virus.
Special instructions have been issued to closely monitor passengers arriving from Nipah-affected or high-risk regions, making thermal screening and medical examination compulsory for every traveler. Officials have clarified that no individual will be allowed entry into Pakistan without completing all required clearance procedures.
It is noteworthy that at least five Nipah virus cases have been reported in the Indian state of West Bengal so far, raising concerns across the region.
