Former senior NATO commander Sir Richard Shirreff has claimed that the world may already be entering a phase resembling World War Three. He warned that the recent escalation in the Middle East has created conditions that could trigger a wider global conflict.
Sir Richard Shirreff shared his views after the US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Iran’s subsequent retaliatory attacks targeting Gulf countries. He stated that the current situation is becoming increasingly dangerous and unpredictable.
In an interview with a British newspaper, Shirreff said he was not making the statement lightly. As a former military commander, he believes there is a real risk that the world is witnessing the beginning of a major global war.
He added that history shows wars often begin in one region but end in another, which is why the current global situation must be treated with extreme seriousness.
