Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that a deal with Iran could be reached soon, adding that indirect negotiations through Pakistani diplomats are making significant progress.
Speaking to a British newspaper, Trump said that the United States could take control of Iran’s oil and may even seize Kharg Island, which could further intensify the regional situation.
He said that Iran has allowed several Pakistani-flagged vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, bringing the total number of transiting ships to 20.
According to the U.S. President, Iranian Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf granted permission for these vessels, describing the development as an important signal at the regional level.
Trump further stated that the United States is engaged in both direct and indirect talks with Iran, and positive progress is being observed in negotiations, making a deal likely in the near future.
He also remarked that Cuba could fail in a very short period and that the United States would be there to assist.
Meanwhile, a report by a U.S. newspaper stated that hundreds of American special operations forces have reached the Middle East, indicating a heightened security situation in the region.
