Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, a key meeting was held in Islamabad between the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, where the regional situation was discussed in detail.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, who exchanged views on a joint approach to the evolving situation.
During the four-nation meeting, discussions focused on rising tensions, ceasefire efforts, and the restoration of peace in the region, with an emphasis on dialogue and diplomacy as the only sustainable solutions.
Prior to the meeting, Ishaq Dar also held contact with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, where both leaders agreed that diplomacy and negotiations remain the only effective path to lasting peace.
According to Iran, Pakistan condemned Israeli and U.S. actions against Iran, while discussions also covered diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict and the significance of the four-nation meeting.
Speaking at a media briefing after the meeting, Ishaq Dar said that unity among the Muslim Ummah has become even more important in the current situation, and that the sovereignty and security of all countries must be respected in line with the UN Charter.
He added that the foreign ministers reviewed the regional situation in detail and agreed that war is not in anyone’s interest, emphasizing the need for an early end to the conflict.
Dar further stated that discussions were also held on enhancing cooperation among the four countries, and noted with satisfaction that both Iran and the United States have expressed confidence in Pakistan. He also mentioned holding detailed telephonic talks with China’s foreign minister on the matter.
