Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has stated that the federal government unnecessarily made the statement of Imran Khan’s son controversial, whereas it was merely an expression of a son’s emotions for his father.
Speaking at a press conference at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Sohail Afridi said that an Urdu translation of the PTI founder’s son’s statement was obtained, which clearly shows that it had no political context and was purely personal in nature.
He said that a son expressing concern for his father is a natural sentiment, but attempts are being made to link this statement with GSP Plus, which is misleading and not based on facts.
Afridi stated that it is actually the federal government that is violating the GSP Plus agreement, adding that if industries were functioning properly, the trade deficit could have been reduced. He alleged that federal policies have put farmers, students, and the general public under pressure.
The Chief Minister further said that Bushra Bibi, wife of the PTI founder, is also facing health issues and is being treated unfairly, which is a matter of concern.
He also alleged that the federal government is undermining environmental protection efforts, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has increased its tree cover beyond required levels, yet shortcomings remain at the federal level regarding environmental policies.
