Karachi: Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation spokesperson has stated that the process of connecting a new line to the water network at Dhabeji Pumping Station will begin this afternoon, which is likely to disrupt water supply across the city.
According to the spokesperson, 7 out of 9 pumps at the station will remain shut for 48 hours during this process, while water supply from these pumps will be restored on April 27, whereas the remaining 2 pumps will stay closed for an additional five days.
He added that water supply will remain temporarily suspended in areas including North Karachi, Surjani, Scheme 33, and Gulistan-e-Johar, causing inconvenience for residents.
In addition, parts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, Landhi, Korangi, and Chanesar Town will also face disruption in water supply, while hydrants at Nipa, Safora, and Sakhi Hassan will remain closed.
The spokesperson further stated that the city will face a shortfall of approximately 250 million gallons of water per day during this period, increasing the likelihood of a severe water shortage.
