Pakistan has urged all parties to honour their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States.
In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan is deeply concerned over rising tensions in the region, adding that the start of a new conflict is in no one’s interest and all sides should exercise restraint.
The spokesperson urged all parties to avoid actions that could further damage regional peace and stability.
According to the Foreign Office, there is no alternative to sustained engagement, dialogue and diplomacy for achieving lasting peace.
The spokesperson said the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding provides a strong foundation based on mutual respect and understanding, urging all parties to fulfil their respective commitments.
The Foreign Office said the Islamabad MoU also provides a strong basis for shared prosperity in the region and across the world.
The US military carried out multiple strikes in southern Iran on Wednesday, while Iranian authorities confirmed that eight soldiers were killed in the attacks.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced an end to the ceasefire with Iran and said further strikes on Iran could potentially take place tonight.
