Islamabad: The federal cabinet has approved a new local government system for the federal capital, with the relevant bill set to be presented before the Senate Standing Committee on Interior for approval tomorrow.
According to sources, the proposed local government structure for Islamabad will consist of three constituencies.
Under the new system, council members will include general councillors as well as representation for women and minorities.
Sources said the Islamabad local government bill will first be presented before the Standing Committee on Interior for approval.
Following approval by the committee, the bill will be presented before the Senate and National Assembly for further consideration and passage.
