Riyadh: Thirteen civilians were injured and several homes and vehicles were damaged in ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Houthi forces on Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi-led military coalition.
The coalition said multiple ballistic missiles and drones were launched towards Saudi Arabia on Monday.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki said civilian facilities in Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif were targeted in the attacks.
According to al-Maliki, 13 people suffered minor to moderate injuries, while seven homes and two vehicles were damaged.
In a statement posted on X, the coalition spokesperson condemned the attacks and said repeated targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure was contributing to further escalation.
He said the coalition’s joint command would take firm and responsible action to protect Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, civilian infrastructure and population from such attacks.
Al-Maliki said any response would be carried out in accordance with international law and the right to self-defence enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
The Houthis had earlier claimed to have targeted Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid Air Base with ballistic missiles.
A Houthi spokesperson claimed the operation was carried out in response to more than 300 Saudi airstrikes across various Yemeni provinces over the previous five days.
