A joint sitting of Parliament has endorsed, by a majority vote, the presidential proclamation imposing an emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the sitting chaired by the National Assembly speaker, the federal minister for parliamentary affairs presented the motion. It received 214 votes in favour and 56 against.
The motion passed by a majority, while opposition members protested during the proceedings.
