Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, Siraj-ul-Haq, announced the observance of “Black Day” on June 16, expressing concerns over the abduction of elected representatives, vote-buying, and electoral fraud in the Karachi mayoral election, questioning the integrity of the election system and democracy.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami said that if democracy is made a joke like this continuously, people’s faith in it will also be lost.
He emphasized that the collusion between the Election Commission and the Sindh government is evident, as the role of the provincial authorities was evident in the local and mayoral elections.
He condemned this shameful and condemnable act, stating that the Election Commission has compromised its position for fair and transparent national elections.
He further mentioned that a nationwide “Black Day” will be observed tomorrow against the abduction in the Karachi mayoral election. He appealed to every constitutionalist and democracy advocate to participate.
