On World Breast Cancer Day, President Asif Zardari has said in his message that the main reason for the prevalence of breast cancer is lack of awareness among women.
President Asif Ali Zardari said that breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, and it is the leading cause of death among women in low- and middle-income countries. The President said that the incidence of this disease is high in South Asian countries and the main reason for this is lack of awareness among women.
According to the President, one in nine women in Pakistan is at risk of breast cancer, and late diagnosis of the disease increases the mortality rate. He said that economic difficulties are also becoming a major obstacle in the way of treatment and there is an urgent need to improve awareness and treatment facilities in this regard.
The President emphasized that women should adopt the habit of self-examination and more steps should be taken to provide mammographic screening in the country. He urged policy makers and health authorities to plan systematically against the disease and provide better treatment and care to patients.
