The Indian National Congress has lodged an FIR against journalist Arnab Goswami and BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya, accusing them of spreading false information.
According to police, the case was registered at the High Ground Police Station on the complaint of Congress Legal Committee head Shrikant Swaroop.
Shrikant Swaroop stated that he filed the case against Amit Malviya and Arnab for masterminding a malicious and criminal campaign, spreading completely false and misleading news that the Istanbul Congress Center was the office of the Indian National Congress.
It is noteworthy that during the recent Indo-Pak tensions, relations between India and Turkey have soured due to Turkey’s public support for Pakistan.
Earlier, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya shared an image comparing Rahul Gandhi to Pakistan’s military leadership, accusing him of undermining India’s military, echoing Pakistan’s stance, and harming national security.
Shrikant Swaroop stated that this act was a deliberate and undeniable attempt to mislead the public, defame a major political party, disrupt law and order, and endanger national security.
He added that the actions of Amit Malviya and Arnab Goswami represent an unprecedented attack on India’s democratic principles, public safety, and national security, and strict action must be taken against them.
He also appealed to the Media Council of India, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, CBI, and other relevant authorities to address this complaint urgently.
