Two new cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan, with one confirmed in Badin district of Sindh and the other in Lower Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With these new confirmations, the total number of polio cases reported in the country this year has risen to 21.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), a nationwide special anti-polio campaign will commence from September 1. During this drive, awareness efforts will be intensified to encourage parents to ensure their children receive the polio drops.
The NEOC emphasized that polio remains an incurable disease, and vaccination is the only effective protection. By administering the vaccine, children can be safeguarded from a lifetime of disability.
Officials further urged parents to complete the full course of routine immunizations along with polio drops, highlighting that the role of parents and communities is crucial in the eradication of the disease.
The NEOC also appealed to the public to fully cooperate with polio workers, stressing that such collaboration is essential for securing a healthy and safe future for the country’s children.
