A hand grenade explosion occurred at a polling station in Gopalganj district of Dhaka during Bangladesh’s national parliamentary elections, leaving three people injured.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the blast caused partial damage to the main entrance of the polling station. The injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Security forces and rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident and cordoned off the area to begin investigations. Authorities stated that polling continued with enhanced security arrangements.
It is worth noting that the ongoing parliamentary elections in Bangladesh are witnessing a close contest. A recent public survey predicted that the alliance led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) may secure 44.1 percent of the vote, while the coalition led by Jamaat-e-Islami could receive 43.9 percent support.
