Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Senator Rana Sanaullah has stated in the Senate that the health of PTI founder Imran Khan should not be politicized and rejected claims that there was any four-month negligence in his medical care.
He said it was incorrect to suggest that complaints had been ignored for months, adding that the jail doctor examines Imran Khan every other day and that medical attention was provided whenever any complaint was raised.
According to Rana Sanaullah, Imran Khan has undergone 25 medical examinations by external doctors in addition to routine checkups inside the jail. He explained that when Imran Khan raised concerns about his eye condition in the first week of January, medical facilities were provided immediately. Eye drops were prescribed by the jail doctor and were used for three to four days.
He further stated that a medical examination was conducted on January 16, followed by another detailed assessment and tests on January 19. On January 24, an injection was administered, and all these details are officially documented.
Responding to Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas, who alleged negligence in the matter, Rana Sanaullah strongly denied the accusation and said such claims could not be accepted without a factual basis. He added that if facts suggest otherwise, using the issue for political purposes would also be inappropriate.
He also mentioned that during a meeting on December 2, Imran Khan’s sister did not raise any concerns regarding his eyes, and no such complaint was recorded during a checkup on December 9. He termed the claim of a three- to four-month delay as political rhetoric.
Rana Sanaullah stated that if the opposition wishes to debate the issue, it can be discussed after completing the House’s business, emphasizing that he would speak strictly on documented facts and that the situation has already been clarified before the Supreme Court.
