Following the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, Pakistan has emerged as a key diplomatic hub, hosting crucial talks between the two countries in Islamabad over two days.
According to sources, initial delegation-level discussions will take place today, while the main and decisive phase is expected on Saturday, involving high-level leadership.
The US delegation is expected to include Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump. Iran will be represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the venue of the talks and reviewed security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of this important diplomatic engagement.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker and stated that the visiting US officials would be special guests of Pakistan.
