New York: A Pakistani woman has been sentenced to six years and four months in prison in a $64 million fraud case involving the US government.
A female federal judge in New York sentenced Zakia Khan and also ordered her to pay $56 million.
Authorities have also seized $5 million worth of her assets.
According to reports, Khan operated a daycare centre for elderly people and fraudulently obtained payments from the US government through the facility.
She was arrested in 2024 and later admitted to the offence during court proceedings.
A federal court in New York handed down the sentence on Wednesday, ordering Khan to serve six years and four months in prison.
