The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Sindh, warning that temperatures in some parts of the province could rise as high as 51 degrees Celsius between June 8 and June 12.
According to the weather department, a strong high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is expected to trigger moderate to severe heatwave conditions across most districts of Sindh.
In Karachi, temperatures are forecast to remain between 39°C and 42°C from June 9 to June 12, with hot and dry conditions persisting throughout the period.
Cities including Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, and Naushahro Feroze may experience temperatures ranging from 48°C to 51°C.
Meanwhile, Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro, and Sujawal are expected to record maximum temperatures between 42°C and 45°C.
The weather department has also warned of dust storms and gusty winds in some plain areas due to extreme heat.
Citizens, especially children, elderly people, and women, have been advised to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
