The Peshawar High Court has issued a written order on a petition challenging Sohail Afridi’s alleged detention, directing senior officials to submit a report within 10 days.
According to the court order, Afridi’s brother, Muhammad Amir, filed the petition seeking his recovery. The petitioner maintained that Afridi was being held unlawfully and that neither an emergency nor governor’s rule justified the illegal detention of a chief minister.
The court asked the parties whether the chief minister was under arrest or had been named in any case.
It sought reports from the Inspector General of Police, the Capital City Police Officer, the chief secretary and the home secretary.
The court directed that a report on Afridi’s whereabouts and status be submitted within 10 days.
Further hearing of the case was adjourned until November 3.
