ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that he has assured to impose more taxes of 170 billion rupees in the negotiations with the IMF.
After giving a press conference after the IMF visit to Pakistan, the Finance Minister said that everything has been mutually agreed till last night, the draft of the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policy (MEFP) has been received this morning.
Dar said that now there is no ambiguity in things, we will try to make Pakistan complete the IMF program for the second time in history.
He said that the country’s debts have increased by 70%, due to failed policies, there has been a storm of inflation, interest rates have skyrocketed, and debt servicing has reached close to 5000 billion. Those people are responsible for it Who ran it the wrong way.
The Federal Finance Minister said that an agreement has been reached with the IMF to levy a new tax of 170 billion rupees. Will try not to impose any tax which will directly affect the poor and common man, this tax will be collected only during the current financial year.
He said that the target of petroleum development levy has been achieved while the petroleum development levy on diesel is currently 40 rupees per liter which will be increased to 50 rupees. This will be by increasing Rs 5 on 1st March and 1st April.
He said that the Prime Minister has assured the IMF of the implementation of the agreement, Pakistan will complete the IMF program.
