A senior Russian military general was killed in a deadly car bomb explosion in Moscow, prompting authorities to immediately expand the scope of the investigation due to the serious nature of the incident.
According to international media reports, the Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that the officer killed in the blast, General Fanil Sarvarov, was serving as the head of the Operational Training Department of the Russian Armed Forces and was regarded as one of the institution’s most experienced officials.
Russian officials stated that preliminary information suggests the explosive device placed inside the vehicle was allegedly installed by Ukraine’s special services; however, investigators are closely examining all evidence to determine the full extent of involvement and uncover every detail behind the attack.
The report further noted that Russian agencies are actively pursuing all leads regarding the motives, planning and individuals connected to the bombing, and significant developments are expected as the investigation progresses.
