In Islamabad, the Senate has approved a bill to make reproductive health education a part of the curriculum, a move being described as a significant piece of legislation.
According to the bill, education related to reproductive health will be introduced in the curriculum for students above the age of 14, with the aim of providing age-appropriate awareness and understanding.
The bill states that reproductive health education will include knowledge related to physical, mental, and social well-being, focusing on promoting overall awareness among students.
It further clarifies that before providing any instruction related to reproductive health, written consent from parents will be mandatory, ensuring parental involvement and approval in the process.
The legislation also states that while preparing textbooks, the relevant authority will ensure that reproductive health content is included according to the age and understanding level of students, so that the curriculum remains appropriate and balanced.
