A joint research study conducted by institutions in Canada and Australia has revealed that the daily use of fish oil supplements can significantly reduce the risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases, particularly among patients undergoing dialysis due to kidney failure.
According to the study, patients receiving dialysis are generally at a higher risk of developing severe heart conditions; however, regular intake of fish oil supplements may help lower these risks to a considerable extent.
The research, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, reported that patients who used fish oil supplements experienced fewer incidents of heart attacks, strokes, and deaths caused by cardiovascular conditions compared to those who did not use the supplements.
Experts explained that omega-3 fatty acids present in fish oil supplements play a crucial role in protecting heart health. These fatty acids help reduce inflammation in blood vessels, improve blood circulation, and protect the heart from serious cardiovascular risks.
The study further highlighted that fish oil supplements were not only effective in reducing existing heart disease risks but also contributed positively to the overall health and well-being of patients.
However, medical experts cautioned that these findings should not be applied to healthy individuals without medical advice. They stressed that everyone should consult their physician before starting any supplement regimen to avoid potential side effects.
According to experts, this research represents a significant advancement in the field of heart disease treatment and prevention, and its findings could help establish new standards for managing cardiovascular conditions in the future.
