New Zealand created history on Indian soil by defeating India in a One Day International series on its home ground for the first time, achieving a milestone that had previously eluded the team.
In the third and decisive ODI match, New Zealand defeated India by 41 runs to clinch the three-match series 2-1. The visiting side delivered a strong all-round performance and kept the hosts under pressure throughout the contest.
Batting first, New Zealand posted a formidable total of 337 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell played a magnificent innings of 137 runs, while Glenn Phillips contributed an aggressive 106 runs, helping his team set a challenging target.
In reply, Indian batters struggled against the New Zealand bowling attack and appeared largely helpless. Virat Kohli stood out with a resilient knock of 124 runs, while Nitish Kumar scored 53 and Harshit Rana added 52 runs, but their efforts were not enough to secure victory.
It is worth noting that over the past 37 years, New Zealand had played seven ODI series in India without winning any. With this result, New Zealand have now defeated India in an ODI series on Indian soil for the very first time, marking a historic achievement.
