New details have emerged regarding the death of renowned Indian singer and composer Zubeen Garg, clarifying earlier reports about the circumstances surrounding his passing.
According to Indian media, authorities have now confirmed that Zubeen Garg did not die. At the same time, he was scuba diving, as previously reported, but lost his life during a swimming incident near Lazarus Island in Singapore. The updated findings have corrected earlier claims that linked his death to scuba diving activities.
The incident took place on September 19 last year in Singapore. During a court hearing on Wednesday, Singaporean officials informed the court that Zubeen Garg was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Several eyewitnesses testified that they saw the singer attempting to swim back towards a boat before he suddenly lost consciousness and began floating face-down in the water. Rescue teams responded immediately and performed CPR, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Authorities further revealed that Zubeen Garg had a medical history of high blood pressure and epilepsy and had suffered a similar seizure in 2024, which was also considered during the investigation.
Singapore police have confirmed that there was no foul play involved in his death and have ruled out any criminal or conspiratorial elements, declaring the incident an unfortunate accident.
