A tragic plane crash in India has claimed the lives of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and National Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar, along with all other individuals on board.
According to details, Ajit Pawar’s chartered aircraft met with an accident during an emergency landing at Baramati Airport, resulting in his death at the scene. The crash also killed both pilots of the aircraft and two security personnel accompanying Ajit Pawar.
India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated that a total of five people were on board the chartered flight traveling from Mumbai to Baramati, all of whom lost their lives in the incident. Ajit Pawar was heading to Baramati to address four public gatherings ahead of the district elections.
Following the crash, the aircraft was completely gutted by fire, with debris scattered around the runway area. Initial images and videos from the site showed intense flames and thick smoke. Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft was attempting to land near Runway 11 when it suddenly crashed and caught fire.
Ajit Pawar was the son of Anant Rao, the elder brother of senior political leader Sharad Pawar. He had established a strong presence in Maharashtra’s cooperative sector and built a distinct political identity of his own. Ajit Pawar belonged to a politically influential family with deep roots in agriculture and the cooperative sector.
