Major changes have been officially announced in the administrative structure of the Pakistan Super League, under which the player selection process for the tournament’s 11th edition has been revised. In the upcoming season, players will be selected through an auction system instead of the traditional draft, a move aimed at creating more balanced teams and offering players improved earning opportunities.
According to the organizers, the introduction of the auction system will help franchises build stronger and more competitive squads while also allowing players to earn according to their market value. In the new edition, the roles of mentors and brand ambassadors and the right-to-match rule have been abolished.
Before the auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain a total of four players, with the condition that only one player can be retained from each category. Meanwhile, both newly added teams will also be allowed to select four players each ahead of the auction process.
Under the revised rules, every franchise has been permitted to directly sign one international player. However, it will be mandatory for the eligible foreign player to have not been part of the 2025 edition of the league.
It is worth noting that the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League will begin on March 26, and for the first time, some matches of the season will also be hosted at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, offering fans a new venue experience.
