Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s support of President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan during a meeting held in Washington.
According to details, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held discussions on bilateral matters on the sidelines of the Board of Peace meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
The US Secretary of State appreciated Pakistan’s backing of President Trump’s proposed Gaza peace plan and acknowledged its participation as a founding member in the first meeting of the Board of Peace.
Marco Rubio also expressed condolences over the attacks that took place on January 31 in Balochistan and February 6 in Islamabad, reaffirming the commitment to continue joint efforts against terrorism.
During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation in the minerals and energy sectors, investment opportunities for American companies in Pakistan, and ways to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
The US Secretary of State also welcomed Pakistan’s participation in the recent high-level ministerial meeting on critical minerals held in Washington, describing it as a positive step toward enhanced cooperation.
