Karachi’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor candidates from Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan People’s Party will step into the field today. The contest will be between Murtaza Wahab from the People’s Party and Hafiz Naeem-ul-Rahman from Jamaat-e-Islami.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, the selection of Karachi’s Mayor will take place through a show of hands. After the election of the Mayor, the selection of the Deputy Mayor will follow. Only after identification, the voters will be allowed to enter, while carrying a mobile phone will not be permitted.
For the position of Mayor of Karachi, there are two candidates, Murtaza Wahab and Hafiz Naeem. As for the position of Deputy Mayor, the candidates are Salman Murad from the People’s Party and Saifuddin from Jamaat-e-Islami.
In this regard, in a recent statement, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Naeem-ul-Rahman, surprised the People’s Party by announcing their strong presence in the Mayor’s election. He stated that some people have escaped their clutches, but they have taken control. Many people have been reported missing here, and it is being revealed who disappears willingly.
Hafiz Naeem further stated that the People’s Party wants to manipulate the Mayor’s election, but we are the ones safeguarding the mandate of the people. 25 seats were changed through ROs (Returning Officers) because we wanted more seats, but they used the Election Commission.
On the other hand, Murtaza Wahab, a leader of the People’s Party, said that the People’s Party will win in the Mayor’s election; our numbers are complete. We checked the numbers last night and this morning. Hafiz Naeem should not spoil the environment or spread excitement.
Najmi Alam, a leader of the People’s Party, made a bold claim regarding this matter, stating that we have already won the election. The PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) is not giving their 35 members’ votes to Jamaat-e-Islami.
