Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan stands with Saudi Arabia to protect its sovereignty, security and Islam’s holiest sites.
Congratulating Saudi Arabia on its National Day, he said the kingdom’s development and prosperity were a source of pride for Pakistan. He added that Pakistan was proud of its historic, longstanding and tested brotherly ties with Saudi Arabia.
The prime minister said that under the leadership of Mohammed bin Salman, relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were developing into a stronger and more comprehensive strategic partnership based on a shared commitment to peace, security and unity in the Muslim Ummah.
He strongly condemned the recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, particularly the condemnable attempt to target the holy city of Makkah with a drone. He said any threat to the sanctity, dignity and security of the Two Holy Mosques deeply hurts the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to stand with Saudi Arabia.
