New Zealand has qualified for the Champions Trophy final after defeating South Africa by 50 runs in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy.
In the knockout match played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, South Africa, while chasing a target of 363 runs, could only manage 312 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs.
For the Proteas, David Miller remained unbeaten and was the top scorer. Rassie van der Dussen scored 69, captain Temba Bavuma made 56, Aiden Markram contributed 31, Ryan Rickelton 17, Kagiso Rabada 16, Wiaan Mulder 8, Heinrich Klaasen 3, Marco Jansen 3, and Keshav Maharaj was dismissed for just 1 run.
From the Kiwi side, Mitchell Santner took 3 wickets, Glenn Phillips claimed 2, while Rachin Ravindra, Will O’Rourke, and Matt Henry picked up 1 wicket each.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, New Zealand posted a total of 362 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. Glenn Phillips remained unbeaten on 49, while captain Mitchell Santner returned to the pavilion not out on 2.
Rachin Ravindra led the scoring with 108 runs, while Kane Williamson contributed 102. Daryl Mitchell scored 49, Will Young 21, Michael Bracewell 16, and Tom Latham was dismissed for 4 runs.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi took 3 wickets, Kagiso Rabada claimed 2, and Wiaan Mulder picked up 1 wicket.
