A Mumbai court has issued an arrest warrant against the actress due to her continuous absence. In the assault case against actor Saif Ali Khan from 2012, the court has issued arrest warrants against actress Malaika Arora and others for repeated absence as witnesses.
On Monday, all the accused, including Saif Ali Khan, filed exemption applications and were absent, which the court accepted.
Magistrate K.S. Ghanwar instructed to re-issue a bailable warrant of Rs 5,000 against Malaika Arora, as the actress was supposed to appear in court earlier.
However, despite that, she remained absent, and on March 15, the court issued a bailable warrant against the actress.
At that time, the court had also issued Rs 5,000 bailable warrants against Malaika’s sister and actress Amrita Arora and another friend, Farhan Wadia.
Later, both Farhan Wadia and Amrita Arora appeared in court.
The court has sought a report regarding the bailable warrants by the end of this month.
It is worth noting that the case dates back to February 22, 2012, when Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, and a few friends were dining at a luxury restaurant in South Mumbai.
At that time, an Indian citizen residing abroad, Iqbal Sharma, and his family were seated at a nearby table.
According to the police, the South Africa-based Indian businessman Sharma objected to the group of actors talking loudly and requested them to lower their voices, which led to a dispute.
Later, Iqbal Sharma alleged that Saif Ali Khan punched him on the nose, causing a fracture, and that the actor and his friends also assaulted his father-in-law, Raman Patel.
However, the actor claimed that Iqbal Sharma’s group used provocative and inappropriate language toward the women, which escalated the situation.
Following the incident, Saif and his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi were arrested but were later released on bail.
