Federal Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has stated that there appears to be no foreign conspiracy or involvement of any external agency behind the news of the President’s replacement.
Speaking in a private TV program, he said that in his view, a formal denial of such news was not necessary, as the report did not seem substantial enough to warrant an official response. According to him, it would have been sufficient to simply state that the news was incorrect.
Rana Sanaullah further remarked that the matter should not have been taken so seriously. He added that there is no pressure on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to join the cabinet and that the current system will proceed under the agreed framework. He clarified that any major changes to this system could lead to complications. He also stated that while PPP is part of this system, their inclusion in the cabinet is no longer feasible.
On the other hand, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that there is currently no clear system in place in the country, poverty is increasing, and the public continues to suffer. He mentioned that sometimes political parties require a movement, but the purpose of any such movement should be to uphold the constitution and the country, not to exert pressure for the release of a single individual.
Abbasi said that if PTI’s movement is solely aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release, then it cannot succeed. According to him, when the focus shifts to the constitution, law, and political stability, a solution to Imran Khan’s issue will also emerge. He emphasized that PTI is currently the largest opposition party in the country and also governs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so it should first focus on its governance performance and initiate a movement afterward.
He further stated that the public wants to know what PTI will deliver if their movement succeeds and they return to power, but unfortunately, the party has no answer to that question.
