Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has officially started accepting applications for new household gas connections. According to the company’s website, priority will be given to those applicants who had already deposited demand notices or immediate fees before the imposition of the previous ban on connections.
The company announced that applicants can obtain connections by signing an agreement for imported RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas) and paying the difference in security charges. Individuals who had earlier applied for system gas connections will now be allowed to submit fresh RLNG-based applications either under the general merit or fast-track category.
SNGPL clarified the charges for these new RLNG-based connections: the fast-track application fee has been set at Rs. 25,000, while the refundable security deposit will amount to Rs. 20,000. The cost of the service line has been fixed at Rs. 1,500 for houses up to 10 marla and Rs. 3,000 for houses larger than 10 marla. Importantly, there will be no additional charges for applying itself.
The company further confirmed that the tariff for RLNG-based household connections will be around 70 percent higher compared to conventional domestic gas rates. This means new consumers opting for RLNG will face significantly higher bills than traditional gas users. However, the move is expected to provide new options for households while also boosting company revenues.
