Electronic traffic tickets (e-challans) continue to be issued across Karachi as authorities push to enforce traffic rules and improve discipline on the roads.
According to a report issued by the Traffic Police, a total of 3,485 e-challans were generated across the city on Monday. The highest number of violations—2,433—were recorded for not wearing seat belts, which remains the most common offense among drivers.
The report further states that 511 motorcyclists were fined for not wearing helmets, while 78 drivers were penalized for using mobile phones while driving. In addition, 27 drivers were fined for wrong-way driving, 51 for overspeeding, and 45 for allowing passengers to sit on the roof of buses.
The Traffic Police also reported that 5 drivers were issued e-challans for violating zebra crossings. Officials emphasized that if citizens consistently follow traffic regulations, road accidents in the city can be significantly reduced.
