According to media reports, claims have emerged that former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed has been convicted and sentenced to death in a case related to crimes against humanity. These claims, however, have not been independently verified by international or official judicial sources.
The reports state that a three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal, headed by Justice Ghulam Murtaza Mojumdar and including Justice Shafi Al Alam Mahmood and Judge Moheet-ul-Haq Inaam Chaudhry, allegedly issued a 453-page verdict against the former premier.
It has been claimed that the verdict was broadcast live by several television channels across the country. Prosecutors reportedly alleged that Sheikh Hasina was responsible for the killing of 1,400 individuals, while more than 80 witnesses testified, and over 10,000 pages of documents were submitted. These allegations also remain unverified.
Reports further suggest that strict security measures were implemented throughout Bangladesh, with high alert enforced before the verdict announcement. Police, the Rapid Action Battalion, and army units were reportedly deployed in key areas, including Gopalganj, the hometown of Sheikh Hasina.
