US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump said that the Saudi Crown Prince is arriving in the United States today and that this occasion will further strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries.
According to foreign media reports, Saudi Arabia has expressed its desire to buy 48 F-35 aircraft from the United States, the total value of which is several billion dollars. It is being reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will meet President Trump at the White House today, and special arrangements have been made for this.
The US and Saudi leaders are expected to discuss many key issues, including defense cooperation, artificial intelligence, and the civilian nuclear program. Saudi Arabia is also seeking formal security guarantees from the US, while President Trump is busy trying to follow through on the $600 billion investment pledges he made during his May visit to Saudi Arabia.
President Trump added in his speech that the United States has eliminated Iran’s nuclear capability.
