E-challan fines issued in Karachi for traffic violations have recently become a major topic of public attention, with a large number of citizens actively voicing their concerns and calling for a reduction in penalty amounts. Responding to the continued public demand, police officials are now seriously reviewing the matter, and an important decision is expected to be made in the coming days.
A senior police officer stated that a proposal to reduce penalties imposed through e-challans for various traffic violations across Sindh is currently under consideration, and consultations between the Sindh Government and the Police Department are underway. It is anticipated that a formal announcement regarding the reduction of certain penalty amounts may be made next week, potentially providing temporary relief to the public.
According to the officer, this relief will not be permanent, as the proposed reduction is intended to apply only for a specific period and will cover selected types of violations. Meanwhile, stricter enforcement measures may be imposed against highly dangerous traffic violations that could threaten public safety and cause significant harm to lives and property.
Police authorities further disclosed that preparations are being made to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign next week to educate citizens about traffic regulations and the new policy. Various media outlets and digital platforms are expected to be utilized to ensure maximum public outreach.
