Quetta: Five workers were killed and another injured after terrorists opened fire on labourers working on a road construction project in Pishin district of Balochistan, while construction machinery at the site was also damaged in the attack.
According to officials, the attack took place in the Saranan Bazaar area of Pishin, where the workers were engaged in road construction.
The attackers opened fire on the labourers, killing five of them and leaving one worker injured.
Officials said the terrorists also targeted construction machinery present at the site and caused damage to the equipment.
Authorities and security officials assessed the situation following the attack, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the workers.
Bugti said innocent Pakistanis had once again been targeted and killed in an act of terrorism.
The chief minister said the labourers had been working to earn a livelihood for their families while also contributing to the construction and development of the province and the country.
