Islamabad: The Supreme Court registrar’s objection to a contempt of court petition filed by Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan has been removed, with the petition subsequently assigned an official case number.
Uzma Khan had filed the contempt petition against the government over the issue of transferring former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital for medical treatment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Information Minister Atta Tarar, among others, were named as respondents in the petition.
The petition sought Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa Hospital for treatment and requested that necessary medical tests be conducted.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja also visited the Supreme Court a day earlier in an effort to have the petition fixed for an early hearing.
The Supreme Court registrar’s office had earlier returned Uzma Khan’s contempt petition after objecting.
According to sources, the registrar’s office had stated that the petitioner had not provided a list specifying the allegations of contempt against the respondents.
PTI subsequently addressed the objection and refiled the petition before the Supreme Court.
Following the removal of the objection, the Supreme Court registrar’s office formally assigned a number to the contempt petition.
Uzma Khan’s contempt of court petition has been registered as case number 8/2026.
